Cramer's V Calculations

This online calculator addresses the issue of objectivity in the choice of proper sizes of association’s strength between categorical variables, applying Cramér’s coefficient V. The calculator could be used to solve two different tasks: to calculate Cramer cutoff values or to calculate strength of association for an observed Cramer value. So in order to use it either effect sizes or observed Cramer's V value must be provided. The input cells are initially populated with test values, which could be changed. If you wish to not see the results for one of the tasks, just erase the corresponding input values. All inputs are automatically validated. The calculator's method and all details are published in the following paper:

Here, the number of categories of the independent and dependent variable are input. These two fields the always needed for both posible ways of using the calculator. They must be integers greater than 1.

To calculate the Cramer cutoffs, input here the effect size values, which must be between 0 and 1. Also they must be in monotonous increasing order. The pre-set values are recommended for use.

To estimate the effect size, input the Cramer's coefficient as calculated from the data. Values for observed Cramer's V must be between 0 and 1.

When all needed inputs are set, press "Calculate" to validate all cells and get the results. Note, that the Cramer's coefficient can not have values above 1
